IMAGES FROM THE PAST ‘Images from the Past’ is an overview of the
development of photography from its infancy. Within these pages are details
of the early Victorian era pathfinders and processes that later influenced
the development of modern photography.
Emphasis is on the work of Niėpce, Daguerre, Langenheim, Fox
Talbot, Cornelius and the Levitsky studio.
From a historical perspective much emphasis is placed on the Crimean
War, Lincoln, the U.S. Civil War photography and Victorian England. In
addition tragic photographs of the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 and the
Hindenburg airship disaster and images from the ‘Great Depression’.
The book concludes with the advent of WW II and features Pearl Harbor and Iwo
Jima. |
